Overcoming Depression: confronting your past

In order to move forward in your life you must confront the pain of your past. Well, some may ask how do I do that? You must confess that it happened. The "it" of your past may be that you were molested by a family member, that your father chose not to be a part of your life, or people treated you different because of the way you look. All these things carry the burden of rejection. Rejection is a spirit that many possess as a result of not being accepted by others in a positive way. What we must realize is that the rejection that we perceive is not a validation of our being worthless or unlovable, but a manifestation of the perpetrator(s) pain. Confession brings a sense of owning the feeling which brings it to the surface in order for it to be dealt with. Spend some time confessing your feelings today. There may be some pain or uncomfortableness associated with the confession, but it is a mandatory step in the healing process from Depression.
